Family Nights at the Durham Museum with Santa

Starting November 28th and continuing through Christmas

On Tuesdays between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, Omaha's most famous museum makes it easy to enjoy family fun and hang out with Santa. There is live music, crafts to make and take, FNBO Elfie Scavenger Hunt, and snow under the lights of the Christmas Tree. This is a special extra ticketed event and the regular admission for the museum ends at 4 PM on these days. These special family night events begin at 5 PM and end at 8 PM.

Decorate an Ugly Christmas Sweater at La Vista Public Library

This is a fun free event on November 29 at the library. Bring a plain sweater that you can turn into your most awesome personalized ugly Christmas sweater for the season. This event is for teens and adults aged 15 and up. The library will provide all of the ugly sweater decorations you could want.

Visit Santa's Workshop in La Vista

An ongoing place to take the kids to see Santa with some extra fun sprinkled in. Visit Central Park at 8305 Park View Blvd. in La Vista. It is free to see Santa and the workshop opens on December 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.  On opening night and various hours depending upon the day. On December 2 from 10 AM to noon you can bring your pet by for a special pet picture with Santa with a pet food donation. The workshop features cookies and crafts while you wait to see the big guy. There are also plenty of fun spots along the way to stop and take photos. You will find La Vista has a large list of different community activities happening all throughout December.

A Christmas Carol Play at Omaha Community Playhouse

Play starts on November 17 and shows run through December 23. This is one of the city of Omaha's most beloved holiday traditions. Come and enjoy a live performance of a Christmas classic following Ebeneezer Scrooge through his life-changing journey of discovering the true meaning of Christmas. The Omaha Community Playhouse is located at 6915 Cass St.

Bright Nights at Lauritzen Gardens

Lauritzen Gardens is an Omaha landmark and every holiday season they light up the floral display hall and the Marjorie K Dority conservatory. Enjoy some of the most beautiful light displays you will ever see. Lauritzen Gardens is located at 100 Bancroft St. Enjoy the lights with special ticket admission to the Gardens on special dates throughout December.

Horse and Carriage Rides at Village Pointe

Come out for some holiday shopping at the Village Pointe and enjoy a complimentary horse and carriage ride through the center every Saturday starting the weekend after Thanksgiving through December 23. The carriage rides are fun and free and run from 11 AM to 3 PM. To hop on a carriage ride simply head to the pick-up and drop-off location in front of Marcus Village Pointe Cinema.

Zoolightful

Omaha is well known for its world-class zoo the Omaha Zoo and Aquarium. On special days in December from 6 to 10 PM, this special ticketed event will bring a special light display throughout the grounds of the zoo.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at The Rose

One of the most well-known and beloved animated Christmas classic movies has come to life on stage. This amazing puppet-filled musical is a hit for reindeer lovers of all ages. Watch this live performance at the Rose Theater located at 2001 Farnam St. The play runs December 1-23 at varying times depending upon the day.
